A total of $180,000 $ will be invested, at a rate of $60,000 $ per year, to continue the program until 2023. Starting next year, in addition to supporting the best student-athletes from the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League and the Quebec Women's Hockey Team, the Quebec Student Sports Network (RSEQ) and the Quebec School Hockey League (LHPS) will now be able to submit nominations for future recipients. A new Leadership or Perseverance scholarship will also be permanently added to the existing scholarship categories, namely Academic Excellence, honoring student-athletes with noteworthy academic results, and Academic and Sports Success Support, established to encourage better work-life balance between sports and studies.

«We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence and to support young high school hockey players in balancing their academic and hockey athletic pursuits. While the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League remains the premier elite circuit for this age group, we are now witnessing the emergence of great talent who are also succeeding in developing and thriving in other leagues, and it was important for us to include them in our Canadiens Bursary Program,» said Geoff Molson, Owner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club.

«The Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club is certainly a major player in the development of hockey for our aspiring young players in Quebec, and by increasing the total amount of its contribution, it plays an even greater leadership role in its community by inspiring and motivating young student-athletes to surpass themselves. Indeed, what a feeling it is to be supported and recognized by the most famous hockey club in the world! The FAEQ and the Canadiens form a prestigious partnership dedicated to the success of the best student-athletes in hockey in the province,» added Claude Chagnon, president of the FAEQ.

M. Geoff Molson took the opportunity to award 28 scholarships of $1,500 $ to the most promising Quebec student-athletes in hockey, aged 15 to 18, as part of the Program's 13th scholarship awards ceremony, which took place at the Bell Centre before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Arizona Coyotes. Eight scholarships were awarded to female hockey players who are members of the Quebec team aspiring to be selected for the Canadian women's team, while the other 20 scholarships were awarded to hockey players from the Midget AAA Hockey League. As one of the eligibility criteria for the Montreal Canadiens Scholarship Program, managed by the FAEQ, is the pursuit of studies to promote the preparation of young athletes for their post-sports career, the scholarship recipients were therefore chosen based on their talent and athletic achievements, but also on their academic performance.

The 28 student-athletes honored this Monday will follow in the footsteps of former recipients with inspiring careers, such as Olympic medalists Marie-Philip Poulin, Mélodie Daoust, Lauriane Rougeau, and Ann-Renée Desbiens. On the men's side, 2019 Stanley Cup champion Samuel Blais of the St. Louis Blues is part of the impressive group of former program scholarship holders, which includes many other players currently progressing in the National Hockey League (NHL), such as Maxime Comtois (Anaheim Ducks), Anthony Duclair (Ottawa Senators), Samuel Girard (Colorado Avalanche), Michael Matheson (Florida Panthers), and Nicolas Roy (Vegas Golden Knights).

Photo Gallery 2020

Video Gallery 2020

Press Release 2020

Press Kit 2019

[2

post-343","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-remise-de-bourse
["GET
