Montreal, December 16, 2019<\/strong> \u2013 Dans le cadre de la 28e \u00e9dition du Programme de bourses Banque Nationale, la Fondation de l\u2019athl\u00e8te d\u2019excellence du Qu\u00e9bec (FAEQ) a remis un total de 126 000 $ en bourses individuelles de 2000 $ ou de 4000 $ \u00e0 38 \u00e9tudiants-athl\u00e8tes. La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie s\u2019est tenue aujourd\u2019hui au si\u00e8ge social de la Banque Nationale.<\/div>\n

The National Bank Scholarship Program has recognized student-athletes from Quebec aged 13 to 26 in the Development, Elite, and Excellence categories.<\/div>\n

In addition to encouraging young people who are role models of perseverance and determination, we believe that each of the recipients can encourage other young people to adopt healthy lifestyles, to pursue their studies, and to get involved in the community,\u00bb emphasized Louis Vachon, President and CEO of the National Bank.<\/div>\n

\u00abIt is with great pride that we associate ourselves with the National Bank, a prestigious institution and a very loyal partner. Over the years, the National Bank Scholarship Program has effectively supported more than a hundred student-athletes, many of them among the most inspiring in the province,\u00bb stated Claude Chagnon, President of the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence.<\/div>\n

This edition of the National Bank Scholarship Program awarded 21 academic excellence scholarships, 16 academic and athletic success support scholarships promoting the balance of sports and studies, and one perseverance scholarship recognizing an athlete's particular determination in overcoming challenges.<\/div>\n

Among the hundreds of student-athletes supported by the National Bank over the past decades, some have particularly distinguished themselves on the international stage. Let's think, among others, of the tennis player F\u00e9lix Auger-Aliassime<\/strong>, who finds himself among the top 25 players in the world, to the freestyle skier Mika\u00ebl Kingsbury<\/strong>, the reigning Olympic moguls champion, to the cross-country skier Alex Harvey<\/strong>, two-time world champion, to the weightlifter Christine Girard<\/strong>, Olympic champion and bronze medalist, to the hockey players M\u00e9lodie Daoust<\/strong>, Charline Labont\u00e9<\/strong> and Caroline Ouellette<\/strong>, multiple Olympic medalists, to the divers Jennifer Abel<\/strong> and Roseline Filion<\/strong>, multiple international medalists.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
