Montreal, March 14, 2019<\/strong> \u2013 La Fondation de l\u2019athl\u00e8te d\u2019excellence du Qu\u00e9bec (FAEQ) a r\u00e9compens\u00e9 les accomplissements acad\u00e9miques et sportifs de 33 \u00e9tudiants-athl\u00e8tes dans le cadre de la 27e \u00e9dition du Programme de bourses Banque Nationale. Elle a octroy\u00e9 un total de 126 000 $ en bourses individuelles de 2000 $ ou de 4000 $ lors d\u2019une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie qui s\u2019est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 la Tour Banque Nationale.<\/div>\n

The National Bank Scholarship Program rewards student-athletes aged 13 to 26 from across Quebec in the development, elite, and excellence categories. Last year, the National Bank announced a five-year contribution of one million dollars to support this program.<\/div>\n

Our partnership, which dates back more than a quarter of a century, allows us to encourage the academic and athletic excellence of Quebec's top student-athletes. The pleasure is shared, confirmed Mr. Claude Chagnon, president of the FAEQ. \u00abEach of the 27 editions of the National Bank Scholarship Program has been a special moment of camaraderie with a prestigious institution for us. As a very loyal partner, the National Bank is committed, alongside the Fondation de l'athl\u00e8te d'excellence, to the academic and athletic success of some of the province's most inspiring athletes.\u00bb<\/div>\n
This 27th edition awarded 19 academic excellence scholarships to student-athletes distinguished by their academic results, 12 academic and athletic success support scholarships encouraging the balance of sports and studies, and two perseverance scholarships highlighting an athlete's special determination in the face of a difficult situation.<\/div>\n

Over the years, National Bank has had the privilege of supporting hundreds of student-athletes, including tennis player F\u00e9lix Auger-Aliassime, freestyle skier and 2018 Olympic champion Mika\u00ebl Kingsbury, cross-country skier and five-time World Championship medalist Alex Harvey, weightlifter and two-time Olympic medalist Christine Girard, divers and multiple international medalists Jennifer Abel and Roseline Filion, as well as hockey players M\u00e9lodie Daoust, Charline Labont\u00e9, and Caroline Ouellette, who have stood on the Olympic podium on multiple occasions.<\/div>\n
