Montreal, February 27, 2023 \u2013<\/strong> As part of Golf Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s annual general meeting, the 9th edition of the Golf Qu\u00e9bec\/Al\u00e9o Foundation Scholarship Program (formerly the Fondation de l\u2019athl\u00e8te d\u2019excellence du Qu\u00e9bec) enabled 30 studentgolf student-athletes to receive individual scholarships ranging from 2,000 $ to 4,000 $, for a total of 70,000 $.<\/p>\n

The Golf Quebec\/Al\u00e9o Foundation bursary program, established in 2014, stems from the desire of both organizations to provide financial support and better guidance for young male and female golfers, while raising their awareness about pursuing and succeeding in their studies alongside their sporting careers.<\/p>\n

Six generous individuals or organizations are involved in the program this year: Claude Chagnon<\/strong>, Fednav<\/strong>, F. Furst Enterprises LTD<\/strong>, Roland-Beaulieu Foundation<\/strong>, Peacock Family Foundation<\/strong> and Groupe Park Avenue<\/strong>. Their donations are in addition to a portion of the profits from Challenge 808 Bonneville <\/strong>2022 to fund the Golf Qu\u00e9bec\/Al\u00e9o Foundation Bursary Program.<\/p>\n

The two organizations took advantage of this event at the Maison du loisir et du sport to reiterate their commitments to encourage, mentor, and financially support 10 high-potential youths who are returning to the scholarship program. They also welcomed 20 new recruits into their extended family, whom they will support in pursuing their academic journey and preparing for their upcoming season.<\/p>\n

The 2023 cohort had the opportunity to hear from \u00c9olie Delisle, a 2022 scholarship recipient. This student-athlete in medicine and new Foundation ambassador was able to share the tangible impact of the support provided to her by Al\u00e9o.<\/p>\n

\u00abGolf in Canada is booming, and the 9th edition of this program aims to support the athletic development of today's and tomorrow's athletes. The objective was to offer the opportunity to train more comprehensively, using the same tools as athletes in other sports, all while benefiting from quality academic support. The Foundation is thrilled to continue enriching the pool of Quebec talent thanks to the support of its valued partners.\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00abGuiding and supporting student-athletes in developing their full potential is at the heart of our actions. The growth of the Golf-\u00e9tudes program over recent seasons and the creation of the 2023 Team Quebec strongly contribute to achieving this goal. As a sign of the success of our initiatives, 9 young local golfers were selected in 2023 to join the various Team Canada squads. Consequently, the collaboration with the Al\u00e9o Foundation is vital to bringing together the elements that foster young people's success both academically and athletically.\u00bb<\/p>\n

New name, new image, same mission!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) has adopted a new name and visual identity: AL\u00c9O \u2013 Propelling the athlete beyond sport<\/strong>. This change aims to further highlight its personalized approach where overall well-being<\/strong> and the well-being in performance<\/strong> its scholarship holders are at the center of its actions.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1920, Golf Qu\u00e9bec is the provincial sports federation whose mission is to increase participation in golf and develop excellence in the sport.
