Laval, Tuesday, March 21, 2023 \u2013<\/span><\/b> At the Trek Financial Coaching Gala, held last September, the Al\u00e9o Foundation awarded a total of 35,500\u202f$ in individual scholarships to 11 student-athletes on Tuesday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fundraising event organized by the financial services firm last fall raised no less than 72,500\u202f$. A portion of the proceeds from this initiative was distributed during a scholarship award ceremony at the Trek Financial Coaching office.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event hosted by <\/span>Yanick Bouchard<\/span><\/b>, co-host of 5 \u00e0 7 on RDS, was the opportunity for <\/span>Marc B\u00e9rub\u00e9<\/span><\/b>, president and founder of the Laval-based financial services firm, to meet and interact with the 11 student-athletes whom his company will support.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Fondation de l'athl\u00e8te d'excellence (FAEQ) has adopted a new name and a new visual identity: <\/span>AL\u00c9O \u2013 Propelling the athlete beyond sport<\/span><\/b>. This change aims to further highlight its personalized approach where <\/span>overall well-being<\/span><\/b> and the <\/span>well-being in performance<\/span><\/b> its scholarship holders are at the center of its actions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jean-Christophe Bougie \/ freestyle skiing (moguls) \/ 1st Trek Financial Coaching Bursary<\/span><\/b>
\n17 years old \u2013 Brownsburg-Chatham<\/span><\/b>
\n2000\u202f1Q4Q<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6th in the dual moguls event at the NorAm Cup in Stratton, Vermont, in March 2023.<\/span>
\n2nd at the 2022 Canadian selection.<\/span>
\nStudies Natural Sciences at C\u00e9gep de Saint-J\u00e9r\u00f4me.<\/span>
\nJean-Christophe wants to work in a sport-related field. For the upcoming season, he hopes to be selected for the Canadian team and participate in a first World Cup.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u00e9onie Corbeil \/ artistic swimming \/ 1st Coaching Financier Trek scholarship<\/span><\/b>
\n18 years old \u2013 Mirabel<\/span><\/b>

5th in the technical routine and 6th in the free routine with the Canadian team at the World Junior Championships in August 2022.<\/span>
\nCanadian junior free dance champion in May 2022.<\/span>
\nStudying social sciences at C\u00e9gep \u00e0 distance.<\/span>
\nL\u00e9onie would like to study law. She is hesitant between becoming a lawyer or taking over her father's businesses. One thing is certain, she wants to get involved in politics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

William \u00c9mard \/ artistic gymnastics \/ 1st Trek Financial Coaching grant and 5th at Al\u00e9o<\/span><\/b>
\n23 years old \u2013 Laval<\/span><\/b>

> 10th in the team competition, 20th in the floor exercise, and 23rd on the vault at the World Championships in October 2022.<\/span>
\n> 5th place in the floor exercise at the Paris Challenge Cup in September 2022.<\/span>
\nStudying for a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al.<\/span>
\nWilliam can easily imagine working for a sports team, a federation, or another organization that helps athletes in their development.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n17 years old \u2013 Saint-Hippolyte<\/span><\/b>

7th in the 50m breaststroke at the Ontario Junior International competition in December 2022.<\/span>
\n6th in the 100m freestyle at the Canadian Junior and Senior Championships in July 2022.<\/span>
\n> Is a 9th-grade student in the Sports-Studies program at Coll\u00e8ge de Montr\u00e9al.<\/span>
\n> Alexia will continue her studies in natural sciences at Coll\u00e8ge Andr\u00e9-Grasset and would then like to go on to study medicine in college.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zakary Mama-Yari \/ athletics \/ 1st Trek Financial Coaching Grant<\/span><\/b>
\n24 years old \u2013 Gatineau<\/span><\/b>

5th in the 800m at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational in February 2023, achieving the 5th best time in history for a Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois runner.<\/span>
\n> He won the bronze medal in the 800-meter race at the Guldensporenmeeting in Belgium in July 2022, posting the eighth-fastest time in history for a runner from Quebec.<\/span>
\nStudying for a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montr\u00e9al.<\/span>
\n> Zakary plans to work abroad for two or three years after his athletic career, possibly in consulting or engineering consulting. He dreams of combining engineering and sports.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bronze medalist in the under-20 freestyle sprint at the Eastern Canadian Championships in February 2023 while competing in an older age category.<\/span>
\n> She qualified to represent Quebec at the Canada Games in Prince Edward Island, making her one of the top six junior cross-country skiers in the province.<\/span>
\nStudies in Grade 11 in the Sport-\u00e9tudes program at Mont-Sainte-Anne high school.<\/span>
\n> Emmanuelle will be studying natural sciences with a focus on health at C\u00e9gep Garneau this fall and hopes to pursue a career related to sports, such as sports medicine.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

> He won a bronze medal in the mixed relay and finished 5th in the 500-meter race at his very first World Cup event in October 2022, in Montreal.<\/span>
\n> He finished 5th overall at the Canadian Senior Championships in his first appearance in that category in October 2022, which earned him a spot in his first World Cups.<\/span>
\n> Is enrolled in the Sport-\u00c9tudes program at Acad\u00e9mie les Estacades, taking 5e secondaire courses through distance learning.<\/span>
\nMathieu intends to study and work in the field of administration, while hoping to work in a domain that also combines sports.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
