Montreal, January 18, 2018<\/strong> Since its alliance with the Fondation de l'athl\u00e8te d'excellence, the Georges St-Pierre Foundation has awarded $70,000 $ in scholarships to about thirty young up-and-coming student-athletes who practice a sport that directly inspires Georges St-Pierre in his fights. Once again this year, seven of them, practicing boxing, fencing, judo, karate, Olympic wrestling, taekwondo, and artistic gymnastics, left with a check in hand and their heads full of inspiration.<\/p>\n

For this edition, two of the seven recipients received an Academic Excellence scholarship to recognize their excellent academic results, and five others earned the Academic and Athletic Success Support scholarship to encourage them to persevere in balancing their sport and studies, a very important challenge for our elite athletes.<\/p>\n

\u00abIt is a great joy for me to sponsor these student-athletes through scholarships awarded via the Foundation de l\u2019athl\u00e8te d\u2019excellence. Meeting them to personally present these scholarships and get to know them is a unique moment each year. They are the next role models for success, both athletically and academically. Seeing them reminds me of my own beginnings; they inspire me just as much as I can inspire them, and sometimes even more!\u00bb testified Mr. Georges St-Pierre.<\/p>\n

The President of the Foundation de l\u2019athl\u00e8te d\u2019excellence, Mr. Claude Chagnon, stated: \u00abGeorges St-Pierre is an internationally renowned athlete. The action he chooses to take, year after year, by supporting seven scholarship recipients, represents much more than the $2,000 $ offered to each. The confidence he shows them through this commitment has not only an exponential effect on these student-athletes but is also contagious for everyone around them. We are proud to count on Georges St-Pierre and his foundation among our partners for five years now.\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
