Montreal, December 3, 2024 \u2013<\/b> For its 39the<\/sup> annual scholarship presentation to student-athletes of member CEGEPs and universities of the of the R\u00e9seau du sport \u00e9tudiant du Qu\u00e9bec (RSEQ)<\/b>, the Al\u00e9o Foundation is pleased to welcome a new guest! The Leadership program, powered by the McCall MacBain Foundation, is joining the scholarships traditionally dedicated to college and university student-athletes.<\/p>\n

During the evening, hosted by RDS<\/b>, at the Maison du loisir et du sport premises, the host of the evening Fran\u00e7ois-\u00c9tienne Corbin<\/b> had the opportunity to highlight 76 new recipients<\/b> of scholarships this season.<\/p>\n

The Al\u00e9o Foundation thus presented the student-athletes who will benefit, starting from the 2024-2025 school year, from 21 RDS college recruitment scholarships<\/b> 3,000 $ over 3 years and 30 university recruitment scholarships <\/b>10,000 $ over 5 years, 8 of which come from the Pay it Forward Program <\/b>and 22 offered by the Government of Quebec<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, ten scholarships from the Leadership program<\/b> have been granted as well as ten academic excellence scholarships presented by Molson Coors and Gildan<\/b>, highlighting a remarkable balance between sports and academics.<\/p>\n

Finally, five special Al\u00e9o Foundation grants<\/b>, intended for student-athletes who began their post-secondary journey at an institution outside the province and who have returned to Quebec, were also distributed.<\/p>\n

The 135 other scholarship recipients are students from 2e<\/sup> year and more of their college or university journey.<\/p>\n

In 2023, it was the addition of the Pay It Forward program, and this year, we are presenting the first cohort of our Leadership program launched in the spring. About the Al\u00e9o Foundation<\/b>
\nCreated in 1985, the Al\u00e9o Foundation has awarded more than $25 million in bursaries to nearly 5,000 elite student-athletes from across Quebec. To clarify the organization's mission\u2014which aims to propel athletes beyond sport\u2014the former Fondation de l'athl\u00e8te d'excellence du Qu\u00e9bec changed its name and brand image in 2022 to become the Al\u00e9o Foundation. \nFounded in 1985, the Al\u00e9o Foundation has awarded over $25 million in scholarships to nearly 5,000 outstanding student-athletes across Quebec. In 2022, the former Fondation de l\u2019athl\u00e8te d\u2019excellence du Qu\u00e9bec changed its name and branding to become the Al\u00e9o Foundation, in keeping with the organization\u2019s mission to propel athletes beyond the realm of sport.
