Montreal, January 18, 2026 \u2013 <\/b>Golf enthusiasts gathered at the Maison du Loisir et du Sport, hosted by the provincial federation, to attend the awarding of bursaries by the Al\u00e9o Foundation in partnership with Golf Qu\u00e9bec, where 30 student-athletes in golf received $75,000 $ in bursaries and services.<\/p>\n

This 12th edition of the Golf Qu\u00e9bec x Al\u00e9o Foundation Scholarship Program awards ceremony was made possible thanks to the generosity of Claude Chagnon<\/b>, Roland-Beaulieu Foundation<\/b> and the Patrick Rh\u00e9aume Fund<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The Golf Qu\u00e9bec x Al\u00e9o Foundation Scholarship Program was created over a decade ago jointly by the two organizations to financially support and better mentor young golfers, while raising their awareness of the paramount importance of their studies in relation to their athletic careers. Since then, nearly 350 golfers have benefited from this program and the lifelong support services provided by the Al\u00e9o Foundation.<\/p>\n

Patrick Rh\u00e9aume Scholarships<\/b><\/p>\n

Patrick Rh\u00e9aume<\/strong>, a friend of Golf Quebec, former coach, and ex-regional director for Golf Canada in Quebec, was living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and passed away in February 2024. Involved in many ways in the world of golf in Quebec and Canada for 31 years, he was keen to leave a legacy for the sport he was passionate about. His inner circle and he therefore established the Patrick Rh\u00e9aume Fund, which aims to support athletes whose commitment to their sport reaches a remarkable level.<\/p>\n

In their own words:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00abSince 2014, this program has provided hundreds of passionate young golfers aged 13 to 18 with concrete support to grow, not only as athletes but also as individuals. Our mission is to put the athlete at the center of our actions by offering them the necessary tools to progress in all areas of their lives, particularly through the support services that assist them today, throughout their journey, and even afterward. None of this would be possible without our donors, whose commitment makes a real difference in these young people's lives.\u00bb<\/p>\n

\nFounded in 1920, Golf Qu\u00e9bec is the provincial sports federation whose mission is to increase participation in golf and develop excellence in the sport. Golf Qu\u00e9bec provides discovery and initiation programs such as First Tee \u2013 Premier d\u00e9part Qu\u00e9bec, as well as services such as golf rules, course ratings, the universal handicap system, and the Qu\u00e9bec Golf Hall of Fame. Golf Qu\u00e9bec also oversees various regional and provincial competitions to encourage local amateur players to excel and eventually reach the highest levels of professional golf. About the Al\u00e9o Foundation<\/b>
\nThe Al\u00e9o Foundation's mission is to maximize the full potential of the greatest number of excellent student-athletes from all walks of life, in order to generate a significant and lasting impact. Founded in 1985, the organization has awarded over $25 million in scholarships to more than 5,000 student-athletes across Qu\u00e9bec. In addition to these bursaries, the Foundation also provides lifelong services to all recipients during and after their athletic and academic careers. To support these services, the Al\u00e9o Research Chair is now a vector of scientific results available to the entire sports community.<\/p>\n

The Generations of Impact<\/b> The fundraising campaign aims to raise six million dollars over three years to bring us closer to our grand vision: that excellent student-athletes enrich society through their current and future leadership, both through their exceptional contributions and the inspiring examples they embody.<\/p>\n
