The event raised <b>267 610 $<\/b> to support the development of local athletes, including the next generation who will participate in the 2027 Canada Games.<\/p>\n<p>Under the honorary co-chairmanship of <b>Christian Fournier<\/b>, Executive Vice-President and Leader, Property and Casualty Insurance at Beneva, and <b>S\u00e9bastien Vall\u00e9e<\/b>, Senior Vice-President, Wealth Management at Desjardins, business leaders, partners, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes have joined forces to provide concrete support for the next generation of athletes.<\/p>\n<p>Among the sports personalities present were <b>Gaetan Boucher<\/b>, the first Canadian to win an individual gold medal at the Winter Olympics, the first co-spokesperson for the Al\u00e9o Foundation in 1985, and a former participant in the 1971 Canada Games. Guests also had the opportunity to meet an Al\u00e9o scholarship recipient <b>Val\u00e9rie Maltais<\/b>, five-time Olympic medalist, including three medals won at the most recent Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, where she had the honor of carrying the Canadian flag during the closing ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Several Olympic and Paralympic athletes who are scholarship holders of the Al\u00e9o Foundation were also present, including <b>Laurent Dubreuil<\/b>, <b>Marion Th\u00e9nault<\/b>, <b>Cindy Ouellet<\/b> and <b>Aur\u00e9lie Rivard. <\/b>The evening also benefited from the participation of two former athletes who are now members of the Al\u00e9o team., <b>Fran\u00e7ois-Olivier Roberge<\/b>, co-host of the evening, and <b>Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Chagnon<\/b>, recently retired from the Montreal Alouettes. The event was co-hosted by Radio-Canada host <b>William Dumas<\/b>, a huge sports enthusiast.<\/p>\n<p>Several athletes, both active and retired, have highlighted the importance of participating in this event to give back to the Al\u00e9o Foundation and the Canada Games, two organizations that have played a significant role in their journeys.
