Montreal, June 12, 2026 \u2013 <\/b>All his life, S\u00e9bastien Groulx thrived on sports and shared his passion. As an athlete, volunteer, and coach, he was a driving force for hundreds of young athletes. Today, even after his passing, he is still changing paths through the Turcotte-Groulx Family Foundation.<\/p>\n
The first eight recipients of the scholarship program were welcomed on June 12, 2026, by the family and the team at the Al\u00e9o Foundation at the Maison du loisir et du sport. Selected by the family itself, the scholarship recipients in this program have one thing in common: perseverance. A total of 20,000$ was awarded in scholarships and services.<\/p>\n
The chosen candidates demonstrated that they persevered to achieve their goal, while also distinguishing themselves through mutual support and athletic commitment. Situations of perseverance may stem from obstacles related to school, a medical condition, an injury, a family situation, or any other circumstances involving personal, academic, or sporting challenges. In addition, the recipients are individuals who are there for their training peers and their sports community.<\/p>\n
Creation of the Turcotte-Groulx Family Foundation Scholarship Program<\/b><\/p>\n
Following the tragic death of S\u00e9bastien Groulx in June 2025\u2014an Olympian and former Al\u00e9o Foundation scholarship recipient\u2014his family chose to honor him by creating a scholarship program in his name. The Turcotte-Groulx Family Foundation (FFTG) will award 50,000$ to student-athletes in Quebec over the next five years, in memory of this inspiring man.<\/p>\n
Program Announcement Press Release: Upholding the humanity of S\u00e9bastien Groulx<\/a><\/p>\n Pay it Forward and the President's Scholarship<\/b><\/p>\n The scholarship award ceremony was also an opportunity to support four other student-athletes through two Al\u00e9o Foundation programs. Through the program Give to the following<\/a>, donors Pierre Dub\u00e9, former executive director of the Foundation, \u00c9ric Bouchard, and Martin Lavigne, president of the Al\u00e9o Foundation, decided to personally present scholarships to promising student-athletes. Martin Lavigne also presented the president's scholarship, offered in collaboration with Game Plan, from the Canadian Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n In their own words:<\/b><\/p>\n \u00abS\u00e9bastien deeply believed in the importance of helping others and never giving up, no matter the obstacles.
