Montreal, March 29, 2023 – The Aléo Foundation is proud to celebrate its long-standing, close and fruitful partnership with National Bank, which hosted the 31st on Wednesdaye edition of the National Bank Scholarship Program. A total of 37 student-athletes received individual scholarships with a combined value of 130,000 $.
The 2023 cohort gathered and had the honor of participating in a ceremony at the National Bank headquarters for the occasion. This was the first awards ceremony for the Program since the name change of the Aléo Foundation (formerly the Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence).
In the presence of Patrick Charlebois, Senior Wealth Management Advisor and Portfolio Manager at National Bank and runner, the recipients received congratulations for their exceptional achievements and their commitment to their studies and their sport. The event was a unique opportunity for student-athletes to gather, thus creating a strong and inspiring community. Year after year, the Aléo Foundation and National Bank look forward to seeing the recipients continue to excel on the sports fields and in their higher education.
The host Charles-Antoine Sinotte, columnist for Hi Hello and former Foundation scholarship recipient, hosted the ceremony.
Among the hundreds of student-athletes supported by National Bank in recent years, some have particularly distinguished themselves on the international stage, starting with Mikaël Kingsbury, double world champion in 2019, 2021 and 2023. Olympic athletes Jules Burnotte and Antoine Cyr are also part of this group, just like Emy Legault, bronze medalist at the last Americas Triathlon Championships.

New name, new image, same mission!
The Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) has adopted a new name and visual identity: ALÉO – Propelling the athlete beyond sport. This change aims to further highlight its personalized approach where overall well-being and the well-being in performance its scholarship holders are at the center of its actions.

About the Aléo Foundation
Established in 1985, the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence (FAEQ) has awarded over $20 million in scholarships to nearly 4,000 outstanding student-athletes from across Quebec. With the goal of clarifying the organization's mission to propel athletes beyond sports, in 2022 the FAEQ rebranded and changed its name to Fondation Aléo. In addition to continuing its provision of scholarships and support services to tomorrow's leaders, it confirms its personalized approach, focusing on the overall well-being and development of its scholarship recipients in their performance.
