Montreal, September 28, 2026 – The Luguentz Dort Foundation, the Maizon Dort Foundation, partners with the Aléo Foundation to offer financial support and sustainable support to the next generation of basketball student-athletes. Announced during the 2026 edition of Camp Élite 5, this alliance constitutes a direct extension of the mission of the Maizon Dort Foundation: investing in the potential of young people and creating concrete opportunities to help them progress in sport, at school, and in their community.
Two scholarships of 2,500 $ each were thus awarded to Noah May and Malek Alphonse, two Quebec-based student athletes who excel in their sports and academic achievements. Thanks to this partnership, they will also have access to the support services that the Aléo Foundation offers for life to its scholarship recipients.
Luguentz Dort becomes, by virtue of this, the first active professional athlete of his generation to partner with the Aléo Foundation. His commitment is part of the work carried out throughout the year by the Maizon Dort Foundation to reduce the obstacles faced by young people from underserved communities.
The Camp Élite 5 at the heart of the partnership
Organized by the Maizon Dort Foundation, Camp Élite 5 brings together young players among the most promising in Quebec for an intensive development experience. They are accompanied by top-level coaches, deepen their understanding of the path to professional basketball and receive advice tailored to the demands of elite sports. Over the years, Quebec talent such as Eli Jolin, Olivier Rioux, Jérémy Gohier (Aléo scholarship holder 2025-2026) and Grady Kapuanya have notably participated in the camp.

The collaboration took shape during the end of the Camp Élite 5 weekend. Invited by the Maizon Dort Foundation, Patricia Demers, general director of the Aléo Foundation, presented the organization and its model of support to the participants, participants, and their families before the awards ceremony.

This association revives a tradition of sporting philanthropy that Aléo had notably developed in the 1990s with the program The winning goal, This initiative, in which several National Hockey League players participated, aims to encourage other active professional athletes to invest in the next generation.

Founded in 2022 by Luguentz Dort and his family, the Maizon Dort Foundation has a mission to support educational success and the development of young people from underserved communities through sports, creative expression, and school support. Active in Montreal, Oklahoma City, and central Arizona, it provides resources and opportunities that foster the development of young people and families while reducing the obstacles Luguentz Dort himself faced growing up.
His initiatives include, among others, Camp Lu the Beast, which makes basketball and its learning accessible to young people from the community, as well as Camp Élite 5, aimed at Quebec hopefuls who want to take a new step in their sporting and personal development.
About the Aléo Foundation
The Aléo Foundation has the mission to maximize the full potential of the largest number of outstanding female and male athletes from all backgrounds in order to generate significant and lasting impact. Founded in 1985, it has awarded more than 25 million dollars in scholarships to more than 5,000 female and male athletes across Quebec. In addition to these scholarships, lifetime support services are provided to each recipient during and after their sporting and academic journey. The Aléo Research Chair supports this support component by producing scientific knowledge accessible to the entire Quebec sports community.
