Sainte-Julie, November 13, 2019 – The Foundation de l’athlète d’excellence (FAEQ) and Golf Québec have recognized 30 student-athletes as part of the 6th edition of the Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program, awarding $81,000 $in individual scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 $.
Academic and athletic merit scholarships were awarded to the top young male and female golfers in Quebec, aged 13 to 18, during a ceremony held at the La Vallée du Richelieu Golf Club.
What they said:
«The first five years of the Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program have demonstrated beyond a doubt the great relevance of this support for top student golfers. Their successes, both academically and athletically, are an encouragement to continue and even enhance the program. Moreover, we are particularly proud to be able to help a larger number of student-athletes and to award them more money alongside Golf Québec once again this year.»
– Claude Chagnon, President of the Foundation for Athletic Excellence
«The first five-year cycle of this scholarship program was a resounding success in every way. Together, FAEQ and Golf Québec have demonstrated the relevance and importance of the financial support offered to many athletes since its inception. The impact on young people was immediate, both on the golf course and in the classroom. The performances at the provincial, national, and even international levels are impressive. That is why we are committing to another five-year cycle. The majority of donors have reiterated their financial support, clearly demonstrating their satisfaction and appreciation. This, combined with the contribution of the Défi 808 Bonneville, allows us to increase the scholarship envelope from $73,000 $ to $81,000 $ annually and, consequently, offer scholarships to more athletes.»
– Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec
Established in 2014, the Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program is the result of both organizations' desire to financially assist and better mentor young golfers, while also raising their awareness about pursuing and succeeding in their studies alongside their athletic careers.
The FAEQ is also pleased to announce that several donors have agreed to renew their contributions for the next five years: Claude Chagnon, Fednav, F. Furst Enterprises LTD, Roland Beaulieu Foundation, Groupe Park Avenue, Peacock Family Foundation, and Raymond Royer.
In addition, a portion of the profits from the 2019 Bonneville 808 Challenge will be used to fund the Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program. The Foundation's fundraising cycling event allows it to continue its mission of supporting Quebec student-athletes through its scholarship programs and support services.
