The Excellence Athlete Foundation and Golf Québec award $75,000 $ in scholarships to 32 student golfers

November 18, 2020 | Scholarship award

Montreal, November 18, 2020 The 7th edition of the Golf Québec / Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence (FAEQ) Scholarship Program will succeed in bringing a little sunshine to the current gloom for 32 student-athletes, as $75,000 $ in individual scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 $ will be awarded live on the Facebook pages of both organizations at 5:00 PM.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly disrupted habits and practices, including for student-athletes, who have been doubly affected in their academic and athletic lives. FAEQ and Golf Québec are therefore all the more pleased to be able to encourage, mentor, and financially support 32 of the most promising golfers, keeping them motivated to continue their academic journey and their next season.
What they said:
«The academic and athletic results achieved by the student golfers supported by the Foundation and Golf Québec in recent years prove the program's relevance. More than ever, in these difficult times, student-athletes need encouragement. I am particularly proud of the commitment we are making to them today, to help them persevere in school and in their sport.»
– Claude Chagnon, President of the Foundation for Athletic Excellence
«Golf Québec and FAEQ continue their collaboration to guide and support scholarship recipients. The past six years have deepened our understanding of the needs of student-athletes in golf, thereby fostering their development both in the classroom and on the course. The Foundation favors a holistic approach with these young individuals, who must demonstrate commendable attitudes and behavior in their golf practice and daily lives. For its part, Golf Québec, with the involvement of its coaches, better identifies the skills to develop and provides stimulating athletic support for their journey. Together, we promote the growth of young people to become contributing members of society. Naturally, the success of this program would be impossible without the financial contributions of generous donors. I thank them for their loyalty.»
– Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec
The Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program, established in 2014, stems from the desire of both organizations to provide financial assistance and better guidance to young golfers, while also raising their awareness about pursuing and succeeding in their studies alongside their athletic careers.
Five donors are involved in the program this year: Claude Chagnon, Fednav, F. Furst Entreprises LTD, Roland-Beaulieu Foundation and Peacock Family Foundation. Furthermore, a portion of the profits from the 808 Bonneville Challenge helps fund the Golf Québec / FAEQ scholarship program. For the 2020 edition, this amounts to $25,000 $.
