Vingt-huit étudiants-athlètes émérites de la province appuyés dans leur poursuite de l’excellence académique et sportive
Montréal, le 3 juin 2024 – Les Canadiens de Montréal et la Fondation Aléo ont le plaisir d’annoncer l’octroi de 60 000 $ en bourses et services de soutien à 28 jeunes hockeyeuses et hockeyeurs-athlètes de calibre élite qui se sont démarqués au cours de la dernière année.
La 17balancing edition of Canadiens de Montréal Scholarship Program géré par la Fondation Aléo, en partenariat avec Hockey Québec, la Ligue de développement du hockey M18 AAA du Québec (LHM18AAAQ) et le Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), permet encore une fois cette année d’appuyer les meilleurs hockeyeurs et hockeyeuses de la relève.
Vingt-huit étudiants-athlètes âgés de 15 à 17 ans ont ainsi été récompensés pour leur talent, leurs réalisations sportives et leur parcours académique exceptionnel lors d’une cérémonie de remise de bourses qui s’est déroulée lundi au Centre Bell. Une hockeyeuse a été sélectionnée dans chacune des huit équipes féminines M18 AAA de la Ligue de hockey d’excellence du Québec (LHEQ), de même que deux hockeyeurs du volet masculin M17 AAA de cette même ligue. De plus, un hockeyeur a été choisi au sein de chacune des 15 formations masculines de la Ligue de développement du hockey M18 AAA. Trois boursiers évoluant au sein du RSEQ bénéficieront également d’un soutien financier. Dans le but de favoriser la poursuite des études et la préparation de l’après-carrière sportive des étudiants-athlètes, chacun recevra une bourse individuelle de 2 000 $, en plus d’avoir accès à vie à tous les services d’accompagnement offerts par la Fondation Aléo.

Nombre d’anciennes boursières et d’anciens boursiers des Canadiens de Montréal se sont illustrés depuis la mise sur pied du programme, dont les médaillées olympiques Mélodie Daoust, Ann-Renée Desbiens, Marie-Philip Poulin while Lauriane Rougeau, qui ont toutes rejoint la Ligue professionnelle de hockey féminin (LPHF) cette saison. Parmi les boursiers ayant évolué au sein de la LNH au cours de la dernière saison, on compte également Sammy Blais des Blues de St-Louis, Elliot Desnoyers des Flyers de Philadelphie, Anthony Duclair du Lightning de Tampa Bay, Samuel Girard de l’Avalanche du Colorado, Alexis Lafrenière des Rangers de New York, Devon Levi des Sabres de Buffalo, Kevin Mandolese des Sénateurs d’Ottawa, Mike Matheson des Canadiens de Montréal, Jakob Pelletier des Flames de Calgary, Sam Poulin des Penguins de Pittsburgh, Nicolas Roy des Golden Knights de Vegas et Joe Veleno des Red Wings de Detroit.

The Montreal Canadiens and the Aléo Foundation award $60,000 in bursaries
Twenty-eight outstanding student-athletes from the province are being supported in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence
Montreal, June 3, 2024 – The Montreal Canadiens and the Aléo Foundation are pleased to announce $60,000 in bursaries and support services awarded to 28 young elite hockey players who distinguished themselves over the past year.
The 17the edition of the Montreal Canadiens Bursary Program, managed by the Aléo Foundation in partnership with Hockey Québec, the Quebec U18 AAA Hockey Development League (LHM18AAAQ) and the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), continues this year to support the best up-and-coming hockey players. Twenty-eight student-athletes, who range in age from 15 to 17 years old, were recognized for their talent, sports achievements and outstanding academic performance at a scholarship awards ceremony held Monday at the Bell Centre. One recipient was selected from each of the eight female U18 AAA teams of the Ligue de hockey d’excellence du Québec (LHEQ), along with two male U17 AAA players from the same league. Additionally, one recipient was chosen from each of the 15 male LHM18AAAQ teams. Three hockey players from the RSEQ will also receive financial support. With the aim of promoting academic pursuits and preparing for a post-sports career, each will receive an individual bursary of $2,000, in addition to lifelong access to all support services provided by the Aléo Foundation.

Several former Montreal Canadiens bursary recipients have gone on to achieve great things since the program’s inception, including Olympic medalists Melodie Daoust, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Marie-Philip Poulin and Lauriane Rougeau, all of whom joined the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) this season.
