The 2nd edition of the Coaching Financier Trek Scholarship Program awards $35,500 $ to 11 student-athletes.

Laval, Tuesday, March 21, 2023 – At the Trek Financial Coaching Gala, held last September, the Aléo Foundation awarded a total of 35,500 $ in individual scholarships to 11 student-athletes on Tuesday. 

The fundraising event organized by the financial services firm last fall raised no less than 72,500 $. A portion of the proceeds from this initiative was distributed during a scholarship award ceremony at the Trek Financial Coaching office. 

The event hosted by Yanick Bouchard, co-host of 5 à 7 on RDS, was the opportunity for Marc Bérubé, president and founder of the Laval-based financial services firm, to meet and interact with the 11 student-athletes whom his company will support.

New name, new image, same mission! 

The Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence (FAEQ) has adopted a new name and a new visual identity: ALÉO – Propelling the athlete beyond sport. This change aims to further highlight its personalized approach where overall well-being and the well-being in performance its scholarship holders are at the center of its actions.

Jean-Christophe Bougie / freestyle skiing (moguls) / 1st Trek Financial Coaching Bursary
17 years old – Brownsburg-Chatham
2000 1Q4Q 

6th in the dual moguls event at the NorAm Cup in Stratton, Vermont, in March 2023.
2nd at the 2022 Canadian selection.
Studies Natural Sciences at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme.
Jean-Christophe wants to work in a sport-related field. For the upcoming season, he hopes to be selected for the Canadian team and participate in a first World Cup. 

Léonie Corbeil / artistic swimming / 1st Coaching Financier Trek scholarship
18 years old – Mirabel
4000 $ 

5th in the technical routine and 6th in the free routine with the Canadian team at the World Junior Championships in August 2022.
Canadian junior free dance champion in May 2022.
Studying social sciences at Cégep à distance.
Léonie would like to study law. She is hesitant between becoming a lawyer or taking over her father's businesses. One thing is certain, she wants to get involved in politics. 

William Émard / artistic gymnastics / 1st Trek Financial Coaching grant and 5th at Aléo
23 years old – Laval
4000 $ 

> 10th in the team competition, 20th in the floor exercise, and 23rd on the vault at the World Championships in October 2022.
> 5th place in the floor exercise at the Paris Challenge Cup in September 2022.
Studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
William can easily imagine working for a sports team, a federation, or another organization that helps athletes in their development. 

Alexia Kovaluk / swimming / 1st Trek Financial Coaching Scholarship
17 years old – Saint-Hippolyte
2000 1Q4Q 

7th in the 50m breaststroke at the Ontario Junior International competition in December 2022.
6th in the 100m freestyle at the Canadian Junior and Senior Championships in July 2022.
> Is a 9th-grade student in the Sports-Studies program at Collège de Montréal.
> Alexia will continue her studies in natural sciences at Collège André-Grasset and would then like to go on to study medicine in college. 

Zakary Mama-Yari / athletics / 1st Trek Financial Coaching Grant
24 years old – Gatineau
4000 $ 

5th in the 800m at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational in February 2023, achieving the 5th best time in history for a Québécois runner.
> He won the bronze medal in the 800-meter race at the Guldensporenmeeting in Belgium in July 2022, posting the eighth-fastest time in history for a runner from Quebec.
Studying for a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal.
> Zakary plans to work abroad for two or three years after his athletic career, possibly in consulting or engineering consulting. He dreams of combining engineering and sports. 

Emmanuelle Moreau / cross-country skiing / 1st Trek Financial Coaching Scholarship
16 years old – Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges
1500 $ 

Bronze medalist in the under-20 freestyle sprint at the Eastern Canadian Championships in February 2023 while competing in an older age category.
> She qualified to represent Quebec at the Canada Games in Prince Edward Island, making her one of the top six junior cross-country skiers in the province.
Studies in Grade 11 in the Sport-études program at Mont-Sainte-Anne high school.
> Emmanuelle will be studying natural sciences with a focus on health at Cégep Garneau this fall and hopes to pursue a career related to sports, such as sports medicine. 

Félix-Olivier Moreau / cross-country skiing / 3rd Trek Financial Coaching grant and 4th from Aléo
21 years old – Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges
4000 $ 

Gold medalist in the 10 km classical style at the Eastern Canada Cup in December 2022.
7th in the 30 km classical style at the World Championship trials.
Studies Science at Cégep Garneau.
Félix-Olivier is studying in the science and engineering profile with the goal of becoming an engineer-entrepreneur. 

Béatrice Normand / triathlon / 1st Trek Financial Coaching grant
16 years old – Coteau-du-Lac
2000 1Q4Q 

> 7th place in the sprint and super sprint events at the Canada Games in Niagara in August 2022.
Double gold medalist at the Quebec Games in July 2022.
Studies in Secondary IV at Collège Bourget.
Beatrice would like to own her own business with an artistic touch. 

Zorak Paillé / mountain bike / 2nd Trek Financial Coaching Scholarship
18 years old – Saint-Sauveur
4000 $ 

> 11th place in the junior division at the World Championships in August 2022.
Gold medalist in the sprint event at the Niagara Canada Games in August 2022.
Studies police technology at Collège de Maisonneuve.
> Zorak plans to see his cycling career through to the end and then work as a police officer. 

Mathieu Pelletier / speed skating (short track) / 1st Coaching Financier Trek scholarship
17 years old – Laval
4000 $ 

> He won a bronze medal in the mixed relay and finished 5th in the 500-meter race at his very first World Cup event in October 2022, in Montreal.
> He finished 5th overall at the Canadian Senior Championships in his first appearance in that category in October 2022, which earned him a spot in his first World Cups.
> Is enrolled in the Sport-Études program at Académie les Estacades, taking 5e secondaire courses through distance learning.
Mathieu intends to study and work in the field of administration, while hoping to work in a domain that also combines sports. 

James Savard-Ferguson / snowboard cross / 1st Trek Financial Coaching Scholarship
18 years old – Baie-Saint-Paul
4000 $ 

Four top-five finishes in the NorAm Cup for the 2022-2023 season.
13th at the World Junior Championships in March 2022.
Studying Natural Sciences, Pure and Applied Sciences profile, at Cégep Champlain – St. Lawrence.
James wants to work in mechanical engineering, a field that has fascinated him for a long time.
