Montreal, May 18, 2017 – At its Spring Cocktail Party, the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ), in collaboration with 11 of its valued partners, awarded 138,000 $ in individual scholarships to 39 outstanding student-athletes through its Sponsorship Program. The foundation also took the opportunity to introduce its new event, the Défi 808 Bonneville, and to launch its Instagram account.

The 11 partners participating in the Sponsorship Program this year by awarding their annual scholarships are: AlphaFixe Capital, Aquam, Atrium Innovations, Blue Bridge, Cogeco Média, Corus Média, Fondation Bruny Surin, Fondation Gilles Chatel, Math Sport, RNC Média, and Samson groupe conseil.

Two new sponsors are joining the FAEQ family: AlphaFixe Capital, which has awarded a scholarship of 2,000 $, and RNC Media, which will award 25,000 $ over five years (5,000 $ in scholarships per year) and $2.5 million worth of airtime (500,000 $ per year) to promote student-athletes. In terms of renewals, Atrium Innovations announced an investment of 60,000 $ for the next two years, and Samson Group Consulting—which has supported the FAEQ since 2005—announced a total of 75,000 $ over three years.

The FAEQ also took the opportunity to highlight the holding of its first public fundraising event this autumn. This is the Défi 808 Bonneville presented by Fenplast on September 22-23-24, 2017 in Mont-Tremblant. «This major cycling event will offer a unique experience to cycling enthusiasts who want to cover 808 km or 404 km, solo, in pairs, or in a team of four participants. The course is a 404-kilometer loop, divided into 4 approximate 100 km stages with Mont-Tremblant as the central point. Take up the Challenge, support our student-athletes, and help the Foundation create role models for the youth of tomorrow,» mentioned the event's founder and president, Mr. Dany Bonneville. Mr. Claude Chagnon, president of the FAEQ, stated: «The Sponsorship Program is a must for small and medium-sized enterprises that want to make a difference in the journeys of our local student-athletes. Along the same lines, the FAEQ invites cycling enthusiasts and businesses to take part in the Défi 808 Bonneville. While taking on this athletic challenge, people will be contributing to the journeys of our student-athletes who stand out on the national and international stages.».

The cocktail party was held in the John Molson room at Molson Coors, a proud partner of the Foundation for over 30 years.
