173,000 $ in scholarships for 53 student-athletes thanks to the 2022 Bonneville 808 Challenge

Montreal, November 2, 2022 – Number 6e edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville once again enabled the Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence (FAEQ) to award numerous bursaries. More specifically, these were 53 outstanding student-athletes who share a total amount of 173 000 $ granted by 21 event sponsors or partners.

This sixth edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville was held on September 16 and 17 in Mont-Tremblant. The event, presented by Fenplast and Lowe's Canada, in collaboration with Lussier and Quebecor, raised no less than 400 000 $.

During the scholarship presentation ceremony, which took place at the new Maison du loisir et du sport du Québec, the presenting sponsors Fenplast (18,000 $) and Lowe's Canada (10,000 $), the major partners Bonneville (60 000 $), Courier Planet (22,000 1Q-4Q) and Quebecor (12,000 $) along with 16 other sponsors and partners were able to present the scholarships and meet in person with the student-athletes they support.

Comments:

«For a 6e consecutive year, the Défi 808 Bonneville has delivered great emotions and provided a wonderful source of inspiration both to the participants at the starting and finishing lines and to the young student-athletes who are receiving a scholarship today. Thanks to their efforts in their sport and at school, but also thanks to the efforts and self-transcendence of those who pedaled and took on a challenge for them last September, 53 young people will be able to say that the Défi 808 Bonneville made a small difference in their journey.»

  • Dany Bonneville, founding president of the Défi 808 Bonneville and FAEQ administrator

«It is with great joy today that we see the fruits of the Défi 808 Bonneville. This public cycling event was once again this year a philanthropic gesture of great value. Sponsors and partners first had the opportunity to take on a healthy and enjoyable sports challenge while rubbing shoulders with several scholarship recipients. Then, they had the opportunity to financially and morally support young student-athletes in their academic and athletic journeys. For six years now, the Défi 808 Bonneville has wonderfully marked the end of the summer and the back-to-school season for our recipients, who greatly benefit from the efforts put into its organization.»

– Martin Lavigne, President of the Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence
