Laurent Duvernay-Tardif announces the creation of the LDT Foundation scholarship program within the FAEQ
Montreal, April 10, 2019 – The Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) and the Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Foundation (FLDT) are proud to announce that the first edition of the “L’Érabl’Hier de Demain avec LDT” event, held yesterday at noon in the Salle des pas perdus at Windsor Station, raised 325,000 $ for the two foundations.
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a former FAEQ scholarship recipient, Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman in the NFL, and holder of a doctor of medicine degree, took the opportunity to announce the creation of the LDT Foundation Scholarship Program within the FAEQ. The student-athletes targeted by this program must be 12 to 14 years old, be at the emerging stage of their talent in their sport, present remarkable academic results, and cultivate a passion for an artistic or other discipline. Young athletes will be able to submit their applications in the fall of 2019, and the first LDT Foundation scholarship presentation will take place in February 2020.
A savory menu, prestigious guests, and a fitting band
Spring and maple syrup season inspired, the 500 guests had the honor of tasting the various dishes crafted by McKiernan Luncheonette, the catering division of the Joe Beef group.
Guests also had the surprise of being able to meet some forty Olympians, Olympic medalists, professional athletes, and sports personalities from all generations such as Alexandre Bilodeau, Anthony Calvillo, Guy Carbonneau, Mathieu Darche, Chloé Dufour-Lapointe, Nicolas Gill, Émilie Heymans, Benoit Huot, Mikaël Kingsbury, Guy Lafleur, Nathalie Lambert, Cindy Ouellet, Annie Pelletier, Richard Pound, Aurélie Rivard, Matthieu Proulx, Marianne-St-Gelais, Antoine Valois-Fortier, Aleksandra Wozniak, and several others.
The Kaïn band also created a surprise by presenting their hits, set against an urban, athletic, and inspiring sugar shack backdrop.
Feverish and committed co-chairs
Under the honorary co-chairmanship of Mr. Martin Lavigne, President of National Bank Financial – Wealth Management, and Mr. Eric Lapointe, former Alouettes player and now Senior Manager, Private Wealth at Stonegate, this dinner took place as a fundraising event, as well as an opportunity to raise awareness for the two foundations and promote the actions of each in connection with their respective missions.

The FAEQ would also like to highlight the generosity of nine of its valued sponsors (Aquam, Atrium Innovations, Cadillac Fairview, Corus Media, the Bruny Surin Foundation, the Gilles Chatel Foundation, Planète Courrier, RNC Media, and Samson Consulting Group), who took the opportunity during the cocktail reception preceding the corporate dinner to award 140,000 $ in scholarships to 40 outstanding student-athletes as part of its sponsorship program.

• Help thousands of young people aged 10 to 12 participate in multisport days and artistic creation workshops surrounded by professional athletes and artists;
• Motivate young people to stay active in both sports and the arts to promote their educational success.
