Montreal, May 16, 2018 – The Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) and 19 of its valued partners awarded 224,000 $ in individual scholarships to 67– talented student-athletes through its sponsorship program during its annual spring cocktail reception, held in the John Molson Room at Molson Coors Brewery, a loyal partner for over 30 years.
The 19 partners participating in the 2018 sponsorship program and awarding scholarships are: AlphaFixe Capital, Aquam, Atmosphäre, Atrium Innovations, Blue Bridge, Coaching financier TREK, Cogeco Média, Corus Média, Fenplast, Fondation Bruny Surin, Fondation Gilles Chatel, Fondation des Gouverneurs, IAM Real Estate, Industries Bonneville, Math Sport, Planète Courrier, Produits Neptune, RNC Média, and Samson Groupe Conseil.
Mr. Claude Chagnon, president of the FAEQ, recalled the importance of every financial support offered by its partners, regardless of its scale. «Our sponsorship program allows small and medium-sized enterprises to make a real difference in the journeys of local student-athletes. It is a valuable opportunity to support exceptional individuals and inspiring role models for Quebec society.»
The first scholarships related to the 2017 Défi 808 Bonneville were awarded during the evening. Indeed, the corporate sponsors of the Défi and the teams that raised significant amounts through fundraising had the privilege of presenting scholarships to promising young student-athletes. This was notably the case for Coaching Financier Trek, Fenplast, Industries Bonneville, Planète Courrier, and Produits Neptune. Former Foundation scholarship recipients Annie and Mathieu Laforest, as well as Mario Paradis, also presented scholarships thanks to their involvement in the 2017 Défi 808 Bonneville.
Details regarding the second edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville were indeed unveiled during the spring cocktail event. The major cycling event, which offers a unique experience to cycling enthusiasts, will take place in Mont-Tremblant on September 22 and 23. Once again, participants will be able to ride 808 kilometers or 404 kilometers, solo, in duos, or in teams of four. There will be two new features this year: a 202-kilometer route for solo riders or duos, as well as a 125-kilometer solo loop. Last fall, the first edition of this public fundraising event brought together 170 teams and nearly 380 cyclists.
