Montreal, June 9, 2025 – The Montreal Canadiens and the Aléo Foundation are pleased to announce the awarding of $75,000 $ in scholarships and support services to 32 elite collegiate and university hockey players who distinguished themselves over the past year. These recognitions were presented during an official ceremony held at the Bell Centre.

For a total of twenty-eight student-athletes aged 15 to 17, the young individuals were recognized for their talent, athletic achievements, and exceptional academic journeys. A new addition in 2025, the Guy Lafleur Awards of Excellence will now be presented alongside scholarships awarded through Fondation Aléo's regular program. These awards are given to collegiate and university-level hockey student-athletes who have excelled on the ice, in their studies, and in their communities. The recipients had the chance to receive them directly from the hands of the great legend Guy Lafleur's son, Martin Lafleur.
For this component, two RSEQ collegiate recruitment scholarships of 3000 $ were awarded, as well as two university hockey leadership scholarships of 4000 $. Of the four recipients, two are reserved for female athletes and two for their male allies.
In addition to the amounts offered and lifetime services, leadership scholars will benefit from annual mentoring and leadership training as part of a partnership with the McCall MacBain Foundation.
3-year renewal for 225,000 $
To continue its commitment to the Aléo Foundation, the Montreal Canadiens also announced a renewal of their agreement for the next three years. A total of $225,000 $ will thus be invested in young hockey players and athletes until 2027.
