Montreal, February 26, 2026 – Fondation Aléo's mission is to maximize the full potential of as many outstanding student-athletes from all backgrounds as possible in order to generate a significant and lasting impact. This is the program's reason for being. Next Generation Access, by which 65 promising student-athletes today received tangible recognition in the form of a scholarship and lifelong support services, totaling $130,000 $, at the Maison du Loisir et du Sport. This initiative aims to provide them with the necessary momentum to overcome challenges and achieve their ambitions.
By joining the extensive Aléo network, these scholarship recipients benefit, in addition to financial support, from a range of services provided by the Foundation to foster their academic, athletic, and overall success.
During the event, a panel composed of Dr. Fatoumata Sylla, general practitioner and former basketball player, Byron Archambault, stockbroker 2010-2014, donor, Montreal Alouettes coach, as well as a speaker, Martin Dusseault, Professional Coordinator, "A Healthy Stride" Program, CIUSSS Centre-Sud de l’île de Montréal, testified to the impacts of the Aléo Foundation on the athletic and academic journeys of scholarship recipients.
Having themselves experienced similar life paths or being directly involved on the ground, these three inspiring individuals have illustrated the tangible difference such encouragement makes for young people. Undoubtedly, the scholarship directly helps, but public recognition of their talent and daily efforts becomes a powerful driving force to continue. To continue their sport, continue their studies, continue the necessary work, continue to believe in themselves. And to become inspiring in turn, for those who follow.
Next Generation Access
The program Next Generation Access was founded in 2023 with the goal of supporting promising young student-athletes by helping them overcome certain barriers to high-level sports, such as financial and academic constraints or even geographical distance. The Aléo Foundation's wish is to recognize and celebrate this talent, by encouraging academic and athletic perseverance. The support services offered help, among other things, to face the challenges of reconciling the multiple spheres of their realities.
In recent years, it has been observed that, notably, the majority of the program's young people have joined a Quebec team and/or NCAA Division I collegiate sports teams within the Quebec Student Sports Network (RSEQ). Additionally, several cases of students returning to school have been noted following the use of the Fondation Aléo's support services. This is in addition to the ambitions that now motivate these recipients to pursue their academic and athletic careers beyond what they could have imagined, particularly at the college and university levels.
To ensure the sustainability of this program, leading partners have joined the Aléo Foundation to make this 2026 award possible. Thank you to Hewitt, R. Howard Webster Foundation, Power Corporation, the Le Blanc Family Foundation, Gildan, Mobile Planet, Valsef Foundation Dream Big, Normand Béliveau, the Alouettes Foundation as well as the Turcotte-Groulx families, Armband while Esparbès.
Donor families
Among the Generation Access program's donor group, three families have mobilized to support a selected student-athlete. The Turcotte-Groulx clan has awarded their scholarship to Drummondville triathlete Simon Gagné, the Esparbès are partnering with Mia Durocher, a short track speed skater, and new donors, the Brassard family, have been paired with a gymnast, Mikaël Morin. The Esparbès and Brassard families raised the funds for their scholarships by participating in the Marathon Beneva de Montréal events, for the benefit of the Aléo Foundation.
In their own words:
«The program Next Generation Access, targets directly the portion of young student-athletes who are on the path to excellence but are facing significant challenges. The talent is there, the efforts are relentless, and we believe they have everything needed to reach the next level. We hope to provide the momentum to overcome external obstacles towards their goals. As of today, they are receiving public recognition, making them role models for their school, their community, our society, and we are very proud of them!»
– Patricia Demers, Executive Director of the Aléo Foundation
«These Aléo Foundation scholarships allow the young people we work with to lighten the load of the stones in their backpacks! As a social worker, I can confirm that we witness how this recognition is a powerful lever helping our student-athletes persevere in both their sport and their studies. Furthermore, these scholarships become tools for me: they allow me to keep the passion alive!»
