Montreal, January 17, 2019 The Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) and the National Palestre Foundation (NPF) continued their collaboration for the 5th edition of the NPF Scholarship Program, a partnership that awarded $30,000 $ in scholarships to 20 promising young student-athletes identified as emerging talents by their respective federations.
«It is always a great pleasure to encourage young student-athletes who are pursuing their dreams at the provincial and national levels. We believe it is essential to support sports elite early in their journey. Therefore, it is with pride that we play a leading role in the sporting and academic success of the young student-athletes we reward,» explained Mr. François Deschênes, President of the Fondation Palestre Nationale, who has awarded 20 scholarships of $1,500 ($) for a total of $138,000 ($) to the FAEQ over the past five years.
This approach by the FPN is a key ingredient of the excellent synergy developed with the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence over the past five years. «The Palestre Nationale Scholarship Program supports very young student-athletes who often do not have access to financial support other than that of their parents,» explained Mr. Claude Chagnon, President of the FAEQ. "The Palestre Nationale has a history going back 125 years, and it is a privilege for us to promote our values alongside this Quebec institution."
Of the 20 recipients, aged 10 to 17, 13 received academic excellence scholarships in recognition of excellent academic results, and 7 received academic and athletic success support scholarships encouraging a good balance between sports and studies.
