Montreal, October 11, 2017 – The Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) today announced the 51 recipients of the 18th edition of the Saputo Scholarship Program, who shared a total of 149,000 $ in scholarships.
Four types of scholarships were awarded this year:

• 20 Academic Excellence scholarships to reward outstanding academic results;
• 29 Academic and Athletic Success Support scholarships to encourage a good balance between sports and studies;
• a Perseverance scholarship to recognize an atypical journey and determination in the face of hardships encountered;
• a Leadership scholarship to highlight a combination of athletic and academic success coupled with significant and inspiring community involvement.

Saputo is proud to encourage the development of both elite and up-and-coming student-athletes. These young people, who serve as our society's role models on the national and global stage, truly deserve support in their pursuit of success. Saputo believes in the importance of staying active, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, and achieving fulfillment through self-transcendence.

The Foundation’s president, Mr. Claude Chagnon, stated: «We are very pleased to have Saputo among our prestigious sponsors for so many years. Their unwavering support and commitment continue to grow. In fact, their contribution and participation in the first edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville, held in Mont-Tremblant two weeks ago, made it possible to award an additional 15,000 $ in Saputo scholarships this year. We are very grateful.»

Among the Saputo bursary recipients who have distinguished themselves over the program's 18 years of existence are divers Meaghan Benfeito and Philippe Gagné, tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime, freestyle mogul skiers Justine, Chloé and Maxime Dufour-Lapointe, cyclists Audrey Lemieux and Joëlle Numainville, taekwondo athlete Karine Sergerie, and Olympic wrestlers Martine Dugrenier and Dorothy Yeats, to name just a few.
