Montreal, April 17, 2024 – The Aléo Foundation’s event was a resounding success! The «À table pour les athlètes» event, presented by Beneva and held in Quebec City on March 27, raised 130,000 $! This impressive sum will be entirely allocated to scholarships and services for student-athletes in the Québec City and Chaudière-Appalaches regions!
Under the honorary co-presidencies of Jean-François Chalifoux, President and CEO of Beneva, and Martin Lavigne, president of the Aléo Foundation, supported by a committed and inspiring spokesperson, Alex Harvey, the festive dinner notably featured an exciting live auction. The participants' enthusiasm even led to the doubling of two prizes, thanks to the generosity of donors Pierre Lavoie (conference) and Alex
Harvey (cross-country ski outing and gourmet dinner). The latter even invited his father, Pierre, to join the group to loosen buyers' purse strings, to give back even more to the region's athletes. A magnificent package for the Paris Olympic Games offered by ATPI Canada was also claimed, thus offering a dream stay in the City of Light this summer.
Among the 300 guests, 37 sports figures made a point of being present, Mathieu Betts, newly a member of the NFL's Detroit Lions, was back home, to the great delight of those present. In addition to its spokesperson Alex Harvey, the Aléo Foundation was also able to count on several Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including the medalists Laurent Dubreuil, Dean Bergeron, Charles Moreau and Valérie Maltais as well as living legends like Pierre Harvey and Pierre Lavoie, alongside university champions proudly representing the Rouge et Or!
With the proceeds from the event, a ceremony will be held in Quebec City in the coming months to award 100,000$ in scholarships and services. The remaining approximately 30,000$ will also be donated to student-athletes in the Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions through Aléo Foundation programs such as Accès Nouvelle Génération or college and university support scholarships.
The festive atmosphere, the fun, the enthusiastic community participation, and the great success of «À table pour les athlètes» immediately confirmed the event's return to Quebec City in 2025.
In their own words:
«I am proud to have co-chaired this event for the youth of the greater Quebec City region, and I thank the business community for responding so generously. The Aléo Foundation bursaries motivate athletes to continue pushing their limits and pursuing their studies to become our leaders of tomorrow.»
– Jean-François Chalifoux, President and CEO of Beneva
«We are absolutely thrilled by the such warm participation of the Quebec and Chaudière-Appalaches community. They have shown us that they, just as much as we do, care deeply about supporting the student-athletes in their regions and see the exceptional human beings they are becoming or have become over time. For the Aléo Foundation, teaming up with these committed people is a major victory for the benefit of youth and their future.»
– Martin Lavigne, President of the Aléo Foundation
