Launch of the 6e edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville benefiting the FAEQ September 16-17, 2022, Mont-Tremblant

Montreal, May 4, 2022 – The Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence (FAEQ) is pleased to launch the 6e edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville (D808B), presented by Fenplast and Lowe’s Canada in collaboration with Lussier and Québecor. The cycling event, benefiting the FAEQ, is scheduled for the upcoming Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17, still in the Mont-Tremblant region, in agreement with public authorities, the host site, and the enforcement of current sanitary measures.

Thanks to the contribution and/or generous fundraising of 27 partners/participants of the 2021 edition of D808B, the FAEQ was able to proceed, on February 22, with a major scholarship presentation totaling 216 500 $ awarded to 75 most promising student-athletes. In addition, a second amount of 25 000 $ in connection with the profits from the last edition was invested in the Golf Quebec/FAEQ Scholarship Program in November 2021.

The event will once again offer several road distances and combos (between 70 km and 808 km) and gravel distances (between 90 km and 404 km). The Tremblant resort and Parc de la Chapelle will once again serve as the central hubs for the event.

The Bonneville 808 Challenge remains accessible to cyclists of all levels, and electric bikes have been accepted since 2020 on all distances except the 808 km.

What they said:

«We are very proud to hold a 6e edition of the Défi 808 Bonneville benefiting the Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence. For the past two years, everyone's mental health has been made vulnerable by lockdowns, closed training centers, and canceled classes and sporting events. In 2022, we see that many have resumed a more active life and we believe that sports, sports challenges, and healthy lifestyle habits greatly contribute to maintaining healthier and more stable mental health. I therefore wish to invite cyclists of all levels to take care of their physical and mental health by taking on one of the challenges offered by our event this year. Looking forward to seeing you at the starting line and at the finish line, in good physical and mental shape!»

– Dany Bonneville, president and founder of the Défi 808 Bonneville and ultracyclist

«Having participated in the Défi 808 Bonneville in 2017 and 2018, it is a unique event where not only does each participant take on a challenge that matches their preparation and ambitions, but it also provides companies with a deeply enriching experience by uniting employers and employees in effort, emotion, and a sense of accomplishment. Furthermore, thanks to everyone's fundraising efforts, scholarships can be awarded to the province's top student-athletes in the name of the company or the participant. Have a good 6e edition to all.»

– Martin Lavigne, President of the Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence
