Quebec, October 29, 2025 – The combination of profits from the second edition of the festive dinner À table pour les athlètes, presented by Planète Mobile, in collaboration with National Bank, held last March, along with three individual donations—also from residents of Québec City and Chaudière-Appalaches—helped raise the impressive total of 160,000 $. The entire amount was awarded to 36 student-athletes from the greater Capitale-Nationale region.
This major presentation took place at the Centre de glaces Intact Assurance, home to 5 of the 36 recipients. In addition to the bursaries received, these student-athletes join the Aléo Foundation family, giving them access to support services now, but also throughout their journey, beyond their athletic careers.
For the individual donors component, three past recipients chose to give back to the current generation, who are well aware of the significant benefits of becoming an Aléo bursary recipient. Élizabeth Albert, former short track speed skating and cycling athlete, is back with a 2e scholarship under the Pay It Forward program. As for the family of François-Olivier Roberge, former long-track speed skater, and The Crew Run Club of Guillaume Rioux, a former soccer player; it was by running for kilometers that they raised the funds to be donated to their designated recipient.
A 2026 Edition as a Duo: At the Games for the Athletes
The scholarship award ceremony also served as an opportunity to launch the 2026 edition, which will be a very special event presented in collaboration with the Host Society of the 2027 Canada Games, to be held in Quebec City. Building on the many similarities between the two organizations—including their shared focus on athletes—the fundraising event will take the form of a Winter Games-themed cocktail reception, once again held at the Québec City Cruise Terminal and as festive as ever! Game on for the Athletes will take place on March 26, 2026, and the proceeds will benefit scholarship recipients in the greater Quebec City area (Aléo Foundation) and the organizers of the 2027 Canada Games.

About the 2027 Canada Games
The Canada Games are the country’s largest multisport competition, bringing together more than 3,500 high-caliber athletes and coaches across 22 sports. Held every two years, alternating between summer and winter, they celebrate the perseverance and sportsmanship of young Canadian athletes.
The 2027 Winter Canada Games will take place in Quebec City from February 27 to March 14, 2027, marking the event’s return to the city where it was first held 60 years ago. This project is made possible thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec, and the City of Quebec.
About the Aléo Foundation
The Aléo Foundation's mission is to maximize the full potential of as many outstanding student-athletes from all backgrounds as possible, in order to generate a significant and lasting impact. Created in 1985, it has awarded over $25 million in scholarships to more than 5,000 student-athletes from across Quebec. In addition to these scholarships, there is the essential component of services provided for life to all recipients during and after their athletic and academic careers. To support these coaching services, the Aléo Research Chair is now a vector for scientific results available to the entire local sports community.
The fundraising campaign Impact for Generations aims to raise six million dollars in three years to move closer to our grand vision: that student-athletes of excellence enrich society through their current and future leadership, both through their exceptional contributions and the inspiring examples they embody.
