Spring Cocktail presented by Lussier: $200,000$ awarded in scholarships and services

May 30, 2024 | Scholarship award

Montreal, May 29, 2024 – As part of its traditional spring cocktail reception, presented by Lussier, at L’Auberge Saint-Gabriel, the Aléo Foundation brought together about 100 guests, including 17 valued partners and 53 grant recipients, who received 200,000 $ in grants and services.

Among the partners who came to present their scholarships to the supported student-athletes, there were: Lussier, Aquam, Cogeco Media, Dentons, Real Estate Fair, Bruny Surin Foundation, Le Blanc Family Foundation, Nestlé Health Science, Parasports Québec, Ringleaders and RNC Media.

Furthermore, five donors have registered in line with the program Give to the following. Éric Bouchard and Pamela Salem of the Save Our Beautiful Planet Foundation, as well as Donald Dion, Christelle Doyon, Pierre Dubé and Martin Lavigne awarded their first scholarships as part of this collective movement initiated in the fall of 2023. Christelle Doyon had already invested in young athletes last February through the program Next Generation Access, aimed at removing barriers to access to high-level sport.

In addition, in partnership with the program Game plan, Martin Lavigne, president of the Aléo Foundation, presented the brand-new President's Scholarship. This scholarship, valued at 5000 $, was awarded to Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard. A judoka, she will represent the country at the Paris Olympic Games this summer and will then begin a specialized graduate diploma in finance at UQAM in the fall.

Ultimately, this gathering was the perfect moment to unveil the Aléo Foundation's new promotional video. Directed by the videographer Marc-André Sauvageau, this new video reflecting the Foundation's current image is a welcome message to all scholarship holders, their parents, families, and Aléo partners.

In their own words:

«Our meeting with the Aléo Foundation was an immediate mutual crush. We work with our clients every day to help them reduce health-related insurance costs through healthy lifestyle habits. Thus, athletes are perfect role models, serving as inspirations for both us and our clientele. We are proud to partner with the Aléo Foundation.»

– Luc-André Lussier, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lussier

«The strength of a team is a very powerful leverage at the Aléo Foundation and we believe in it deeply. Partners are essential allies in our great family, where we welcome and support hundreds of student-athletes every year. The spring cocktail is therefore a flagship moment where we witness inspiring encounters between donors and recipients. Both parties always leave inspired!»

– Patricia Demers, Executive Director of the Aléo Foundation

About the Aléo Foundation
Established in 1985, the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence (FAEQ) has awarded over $20 million in scholarships to nearly 4,000 outstanding student-athletes from across Quebec. With the goal of clarifying the organization's mission to propel athletes beyond sports, in 2022 the FAEQ rebranded and changed its name to Fondation Aléo. In addition to continuing its provision of scholarships and support services to tomorrow's leaders, it confirms its personalized approach, focusing on the overall well-being and development of its scholarship recipients in their performance.
