The Alouettes Foundation encourages perseverance and academic excellence and recognizes the leadership of young Quebecois football players as part of the Montreal Alouettes Scholarship Program presented by RDS.

Montreal, August 11, 2017 – M. Patrick Boivin, President and CEO of the Montreal Alouettes, accompanied by Ms. Marie-Eve Bergeron, Head of Community Investments for Quebec, Bell Media, presented $32,500 $ in scholarships to 21 of Quebec's most promising young football players on the occasion of the 13the Montreal Alouettes Scholarship Program edition at the Foundation de l’athlète d’excellence (FAEQ).

«Since the return of the Alouettes and the rise in popularity of Francophone football, particularly thanks to university programs, the level of talent in Quebec has constantly improved. This must continue, believes Patrick Boivin, President and CEO of the Montreal Alouettes. It is proven that the personality traits that make our athletes excel will also greatly help them later in their careers. It is therefore imperative to encourage these young people in both sports and their studies to shape the adults of our society tomorrow, declared Patrick Boivin.

Six types of scholarships were awarded at the ceremony held at the McGill Stadium's Piano Room: 4 scholarships’Academic excellence in order to reward noteworthy academic achievements; 10 scholarships Support for academic and athletic success to encourage the good balance between football and studies; 2 scholarships Leadership to highlight community engagement; 2 scholarships Perseverance to recognize exemplary attitude in difficult circumstances; 2 scholarships College recruitment to high school graduating student-athletes who will continue their studies and their sport at the collegiate level and 1 stock exchange University Recruitment to a graduating student-athlete from a CEGEP who has chosen to pursue their academic and athletic journey at a Quebec university.

Mr. Claude Chagnon, president of FAEQ, said he was very encouraged by the Alouettes« support over all these years: »The Montreal Alouettes have been loyal to the Foundation for several years, as they share our values in terms of academic perseverance and community involvement, particularly through their scholarship program, which has proven its worth over the years by supporting up-and-coming football players from high school to the university level," concluded Mr. Chagnon.

This scholarship program, officially presented by RDS, is managed by the FAEQ and Football Québec, represented respectively by Mr. Jonathan Collin and Mr. Bob Mironowicz, in partnership with the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), whose president is Mr. Gustave Roël.
